Our four-week program will include an immersive media and art section— iWitness and Artivism— where student interns will explore Emmett Till’s legacy. Their projects will follow the theme Emmett Till: The Pursuit of Happiness – An American Reckoning, encouraging students to examine history while creating impactful work that inspires dialogue and reflection.
The media track, iWitness, prioritizes video interviews and storytelling, giving interns the opportunity to document voices, perspectives, and reflections connected to history, memory and community impact.
The art track, Artivism, focuses on creating responsive art through visual expression, allowing participants to reflect on themes of justice, identity and social responsibility.
Throughout the month of July, interns will engage with museum professionals, historians, artists, journalists and other public figures to gain a richer understanding learn of Emmett Till’s life, legacy and crucial impact on the Civil Rights Movement.
