85th Commemoration Dinner

  • Obama Presidential Center 6001 South Stony Island Avenue Chicago, Illinois, 60637 United States (map)

The 85th Commemoration Dinner marks a monumental occasion in history, as we honor what would have been Emmett Till’s 85th Birthday. As our nation also celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we are forced to reflect on the promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This evening invites us to remember Emmett’s immense impact on American history and recommit ourselves to the forgotten promise to pursue these unalienable rights

This gathering serves as a call to action, reflection and collective purpose. Together, we will celebrate Emmett Till’s legacy, the courage his mother Mamie Till-Mobley possessed and shine light on those who continue to preserve that historic moment and inspire the next generation. Through fellowship, storytelling, and shared commitment, this commemoration dinner will affirm that remembrance is not only about honoring the past, but about shaping a more just and inclusive future.
